The Quotes, Aphorisms and miscellaneous says you will find on the bottom of each page come from the the fortune_mod database. This database has a venerable history - being used by Unix System administartors to generate random QOTD (Quote of the Day) or MOTD's (Message of the Day) for their users as they logged on since the mid 1970's - over the years the database has grown to thousands of pithy or wry or funny or sharp quotations from the famous and the infamous as well as the anonymous.

The database is freely distributed under the BSD license - and the version on this site is a windows port using Postgresql 8.0 and Macromedia™ Cold Fusion. These are but a subset of the entire Database, which is usually standard on most Linux distributions, or available from fortunemod.org .
